  Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa      Last Week My goodness the end of the year has come so quickly. The students have been anxious to help with packing up and cleaning the room. I can't speak to what happens at home, but each one of them is very helpful and great at cleaning and organizing. It has been fun working as a team getting our room ready for summer and next year's kindergarten class! Your child has been coming home with books from school. Many are from our current ELA curriculum which we will not be using next year. We are excited to get as many books into the homes and hands of our students for summer reading. These books were chosen by your students which they enjoyed. Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Thankfully, we finished up our NWEA testing last week. The students worked hard and were happy to have this task complete. You will receive the results with your child's progress reports the week after school let's out. Even though we had to move our Donuts with Someone Special event inside, it was lots of fun being together enjoying a delicious sweet treat. Thank you to all the PTO parents who made that happen for us. That is no small undertaking, but the memories are certainly appreciated. Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Happiest of Mother's Days to all the mothers out there. I hope your families pampered you appropriately. What a beautiful day it has been too. 💙💛 My goodness, thank you all for the many gifts, flowers, pictures and notes during Teacher Appreciation Week!! I was certainly spoiled and felt very loved and appreciated. Please know that I appreciate all of you as well. 😊 We had a perfect day for our trip to Sarett Nature Center. Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Your children did a wonderful job of showing the preschoolers from the YMCA all about Brown School and Kindergarten. They all looked so little, which reminded me of how my current students looked when the year began. They have all grown so much! Please remember to send in the finished April homework calendars for a trip to the treasure chest. Last week I showed the class this video for learning to tie shoes. I have used this with several kiddos and it usually learned quickly.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week seemed to fly by! That always seems to be the case after spring break. We are enjoying our small reading groups during Daily 5 time. This time of year is so gratifying as I get to see the reading light bulbs go on. Please, please continue to read daily with your child. It is more important than I can emphasize. Several students have been bringing books from home to read to the class. The reader and all of us love this time. We are so proud of our classmates and enjoy encouraging them. My only request is that the child practice the book at home until they have mastered it.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week We began Informational Writing last week. We first need to brainstorm the things we are "experts" in before choosing a topic to write about (like family members, pets, sports we play, etc.). We will look forward to sharing these with you when finished. We had some great discussions regarding forgiveness last week. We learned it is a powerful gift, but sometimes hard to give.
