  Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week seemed to fly by! That always seems to be the case after spring break. We are enjoying our small reading groups during Daily 5 time. This time of year is so gratifying as I get to see the reading light bulbs go on. Please, please continue to read daily with your child. It is more important than I can emphasize. Several students have been bringing books from home to read to the class. The reader and all of us love this time. We are so proud of our classmates and enjoy encouraging them. My only request is that the child practice the book at home until they have mastered it. We first need to brainstorm the things we are "experts" in before choosing a topic to write about (like family members, pets, sports we play, etc.). We will look forward to sharing these with you when finished. We had some great discussions regarding forgiveness last week. We learned it is a powerful gift, but sometimes hard to give. Snack and Leaders Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it. On Thursday your child came home with a bound book that he/she helped to illustrate and create. We typically head out of town, but stayed home this year. Even though the weather was not great, we had a good week connecting with people we've been missing and getting quite a bit done around our home.
