Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                                                 Last Week

We began Informational Writing last week. We first need to brainstorm the things we are "experts" in before choosing a topic to write about (like family members, pets, sports we play, etc.). We will look forward to sharing these with you when finished.

We had some great discussions regarding forgiveness last week. We learned it is a powerful gift, but sometimes hard to give.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Next Week Events


Positivity Project trait is Leadership-You encourage others to do and be their best.


We get to see the 4th grade performance on Wednesday, have a fire drill Thursday morning and plan for our preschoolers coming to visit (next M and T)


Our next Guest Reader will be Mrs. Lamberta coming on Wednesday, April 24 at 3:15. Please bring 3-4 of your favorite books to share with us. 


The book orders sent home last week are due this Wednesday, 4/24. We need to get the order in by then to assure that we get them before school is out. They typically come quickly, better safe than sorry though.

Please be sure to --

  • Please send a leak-proof, water bottle each day. Several children are coming without them.
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-whatever that may be 😏.
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Upcoming Events


Our Spring Mileage Club will be held the weeks of April 29th and May 6th. Please have your child bring back his/her charm necklace in order to add new charms to the collection.


May 10th-Last field trip to Sarett Nature Center

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help. We could not have done it without you.  November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again. We just couldn't do fun things like this without the amazing support from all of you! It was fun welcoming Hudson into our class.
