Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help. We could not have done it without you.  November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate. Reminder that your child's name must be on it as well as your signature.  Snack and Leaders Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other impor...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope you all had a restful and fun Thanksgiving break. As wonderful as a break is, we are always excited to return to school to share our stories and continue our learning together.  Your child's progress report came home on Monday.  All the grades are given with our "end of th e year" goal in mind. Please do not be concerned if your child receives a 1 or 2 on a standard. 1 means additional support is needed in that area, 2 means progressing towards mastery of the standard and 3 means the standard has been met.  If you have any questions or concerns after receiving the progress report, please contact me.    I am still in need of a few progress report envelopes to be signed and returned to school. Those envelopes will be used al...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week We had such fun singing before our Thanksgiving Feast. The feast was delicious too and we even had ice cream for dessert! A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who came to serve us. We felt very loved and cared for ❤. It has been so fun seeing our classmates disguised turkeys and time lines. Things like these help us to get to know each other more and more. I appreciate the time taken with your child doing these projects. They are so proud to share. I will not send a blog next week so this will cover the next 2 as far as leader/snack and guest reader are concerned. Snack and Leaders Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with th...

Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week Our 50th day was a great celebration of all we have learned about math and reading, but also about each other. Thanks so much to the volunteers who helped make this party happen. We sure had fun! During Daily 5 we are learning to state the Sequence of Events in the stories we read and the things we do. Ask your child to tell you the sequence in some common job he/she does, ie. brushing teeth, getting ready for bed, etc. You may be surprised at the answer.  In Math we are working with shapes. Look around to see how many shapes there are in our homes, yards, stores, anywhere we go. The 5 shapes we need to know this year are square, triangle, rectangle, circle and hexagon. Most of our kiddos know most of them. It is fun to find them in our world. Pleas...
