Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa
Last Week
I hope you all had a restful and fun Thanksgiving break. As wonderful as a break is, we are always excited to return to school to share our stories and continue our learning together.
Your child's progress report came home on Monday. All the grades are given with our "end of th e year" goal in mind. Please do not be concerned if your child receives a 1 or 2 on a standard. 1 means additional support is needed in that area, 2 means progressing towards mastery of the standard and 3 means the standard has been met. If you have any questions or concerns after receiving the progress report, please contact me. I am still in need of a few progress report envelopes to be signed and returned to school. Those envelopes will be used all year to deliver progress reports to you. Not to mention that your child receives a treat when the envelope returns 😋.
Christmas trees were sent home to be decorated and returned to school. We have loved seeing those so far and look forward to "Decking our Halls" with many more. Thank you for encouraging this work at home.
November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate. Reminder that your child's name must be on it as well as your signature.
Snack and Leaders
Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!
We will snack in the afternoon each day (our lunch time is 11:30). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day. Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events
The ELA standards we will work on the next 3 weeks are Analyzing Story Elements (fiction/nonfiction, main idea, main characters, setting and problem/solution) and Summarizing stories. See if your child can tell these things after reading at home. 😊
In Math we will continue our work with 2 dimensional shapes. Look for them at home and when you are out and about. See how many your child is able to find.
The Book Fair is open all week if you weren't able to come Friday. It will be open at least until 4 each day. I will let you know if there are some days that go a bit later this week.
Please click on this link for some great SEL resources for our children. This will reinforce the concepts Mrs. VanHekken teaches during her time with our kiddos. It is great stuff.
K-2 Family Communication Slide
Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week.
Upcoming Events
On Wednesday, December 13th we will make Gingerbread houses in our room. Tomorrow I will send a note regarding this
asking for donations to decorate our houses. If you are able, please send your assigned item anytime before that day, but
not later than Dec. 11th (so I can supplement if necessary). We will begin at 12:10 (set up) until 1:30 ish that afternoon.
I have 1 volunteer spot open. Let me know if you would like to join us.
Our Holiday Party will be on Friday, 12/22. It will be in the afternoon, but still unsure of the exact time. I'm waiting
for the Brown schedule to be solidified. I will reach out this week to the committee for this party. Thank you in advance!
