 Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                                                 Last Week

We are making predictions during our Daily 5 block these days. Ask your child to do some predicting regarding things at home. We have had fun predicting weather, school activities and what may happen next in stories we are reading.

We learned why our calendar includes February 29th every 4 years last week. Ask your child how long it really takes the earth to revolve around the sun and why that creates the need for an additional day every 4 years.

Last week finished our 2nd trimester of kindergarten. It is hard to believe we are 2/3 of the way through our year together.  What a blessing it is to spend my days with your wonderful children. The year is going too fast!!

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

March is Reading Month Dress Up Days


Monday March 4: Red, white and blue day

Tuesday March 5: Thing 1, Thing 2: Twin Day!

Wednesday March 6: Wear tie-dye or a color that makes you happy to celebrate how books brighten our world!

Thursday March 7: Wear a shirt that you can read

Friday March 8: Show your Bear Pride and wear Bear Wear


Progress reports will be sent home on Thursday. Of course, the report is yours but please return the signed envelope to school with your child. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding your child's report. 


Thursday, March 7 is our Brown School Variety Show. We will travel to the high school to see the dress rehearsal during

the day. It is so fun to be in the "big kids'" school! All are welcome to attend the main performance at SJHS at 5:30. You will

be amazed to see the incredible talent of our Brown School students.

Please be sure to --

  • Send a leak-proof, water bottle each day
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-whatever that may be 😏.
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please be sure your child has gym shoes each Friday.

Thursday, March 21 is Kindergarten Round Up for our 2024-25 classes. It will be at Brown from 7-8:00. Please spread the word to those you know with incoming kindergarten children. 


Friday, March 22-Upton Planetarium Trip


Spring break begins Friday, March 29 through Friday, April 5.

School resumes Monday, April 8.

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help. We could not have done it without you.  November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again. We just couldn't do fun things like this without the amazing support from all of you! It was fun welcoming Hudson into our class.
