Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                                                 Last Week

Our trip to the Planetarium at Upton Middle School was great!! Your child will love telling you all about the Sesame Street video, the constellation exploration and the really cool light show we saw.

We began the skills of Comparing and Contrasting last week. We compared/contrasted pairs of students each day finding ways they are the same (compare) and different (contrast). This can be done with any 2 objects. Have your child show you how to do this at home. They may even be able to show you using a Venn Diagram.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Next Week Events


Our Positivity Project trait is OPM-Cheering on others' successes.


We will be part of a virtual author visit Monday morning. Peter H. Reynolds will Meet with us from 8:45-9:30 to read us some of his books and teach us some of his illustration skills. We have been reading his books for the last few weeks and love them. Be sure to ask your child about this.


We get to see the 1st grade performance on Wednesday afternoon. It is fun to get a glimpse of what is to come for us next year.

Please be sure to --

  • Please send a leak-proof, water bottle each day. Several children are coming without them.
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-whatever that may be 😏.
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please be sure your child has gym shoes each Friday. 


No School on Friday as we begin our Spring Break. Have a wonderful break. We will look forward to being together again on Monday, April 8th.

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it. On Thursday your child came home with a bound book that he/she helped to illustrate and create.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help. We could not have done it without you.  November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again. We just couldn't do fun things like this without the amazing support from all of you! It was fun welcoming Hudson into our class.
