Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                                                 Last Week

Our grand total for the Be the Change campaign is $1,114.31!! That speaks loudly in regard to the generosity of our Brown School family. Thank you for helping us to "Be the Change" and teach the important lesson of looking beyond ourselves to the needs of others.

On Monday I assessed the students 1-1. What a blessing to see the growth your amazing children. I enjoyed conferencing with many of you and your children. Thank you for taking the time to meet. Never hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Lego Night was loads of fun. I think I enjoyed it as much as the children did. Legos are some of my favorite toys of all time. Playing with them teaches so many developmental skills.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Next Week Events


Our Positivity Project trait is Humor-You like to laugh and make people smile.

If your child has a joke he/she would like to tell us this week, tell them to let me know. We will have some time allotted each day for laughter and smiles. Preferably these are practiced jokes from home (as opposed to those made up on the fly 😏).


The March Leader and Events calendar will be placed in the back of each child's folder this week. The March homework and Book-It calendars will come home as well. Your child may turn in his/her February homework calendar any time for a trip to the treasure chest and free Pizza Hut pizza coupon.

  • Send a leak-proof, water bottle each day
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-whatever that may be 😏.
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please be sure your child has gym shoes each Friday.

Wednesday March 6: Wear tie-dye or a color that makes you happy to celebrate how books brighten our world!

Thursday March 7: Wear a shirt that you can read

Friday March 8: Show your Bear Pride and wear Bear Wear

Thursday, March 21 is Kindergarten Round Up for our 2024-25 classes. It will be at Brown from 7-8:00. Please spread the word to those you know with incoming kindergarten children. 


Friday, March 22-Upton Planetarium Trip


Spring break begins Friday, March 29 through Friday, April 5.

School resumes Monday, April 8.

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it. On Thursday your child came home with a bound book that he/she helped to illustrate and create. We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again. We just couldn't do fun things like this without the amazing support from all of you! It was fun welcoming Hudson into our class.
