Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                                                 Last Week

100th day was SO fun. Thank you for your participation in helping your child with his/her project. We all enjoyed each others' "oral reports" about our collections.

The 5th grade program on Wednesday was fun too. In 5th grade the students learn how to play the ukulele. They were really good. We knew many of the songs they played and sang for us too.

I was sorry to miss school on Friday due to several appointments. I loved seeing the great pictures of those who dressed as if they were 100 years old. Our student council has planned some really fun spirit days for us.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Wednesday, February 14--Valentine's Day Celebration-We will make Valentine bags in class for collection. Please use the

sheet I sent last with students' names and numbers. Valentines may be sent in anytime on or before Wednesday. Please let me

know if you need another copy. I have plenty!


Friday, February 16--Let's all wear clothing that represents Kindness and/or Love to show our pride in helping kids.


Be The Change


We are going to hold a fundraiser for the Kids at Saint Judes Hospital.  Since we are thinking that we can help change their situation by giving, we are calling this fundraiser (are you ready for this?):  BE THE CHANGE.

We are going to use our CHANGE to make the CHANGE!!  The change drive will start on Monday, Feb. 12th,  and run every day next week.  THAT’S THIS MONDAY!  So round up all of the loose change in your whole house!!  Our days will look like this:

MONDAY:  PENNY Pride:  

(collecting as many pennies as you have!!)

TUESDAY:    NICKELS

(Collecting as many nickels as you have)

WEDNESDAY:   DIME TIME: 

(Collecting as many dimes as you have)

THURSDAY:   QUARTERS: 

(Collecting as many quarters as you have)

FRIDAY:    BUCKS or BIGGER!

(ALL the dollar …or larger… bills!!)

** Also on Friday, Let’s ALL wear something that represents kindness, to show our pride in helping kids.  Clothing with kindness quotes or hearts is perfect.  


Please be sure to --

  • Send a leak-proof, water bottle each day
  • You are welcome and encouraged to leave a pair of shoes at school in the winter.
  • Dress your child for the weather of the day-snow pants, boots, hat and mittens
  • Empty your child's folder each day

Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please be sure your child has gym shoes each Friday.

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again. We just couldn't do fun things like this without the amazing support from all of you! It was fun welcoming Hudson into our class.
