Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                         Last Week

I so enjoyed our time together during conferences last week. This was our first year including the students and I thought it was great! I think the kinders felt heard and appreciated being able to tell their stories some. I am always available if you would like to meet to discuss your child's school experience. Please don't hesitate to reach out with concerns or questions. 


Now that the weather is somewhere between fall and winter, please be sure your child has adequate outdoor clothing each day. We go outside

3 times a day and we want all the children to be comfortable. Thank you.


Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the afternoon each day (our lunch time is 11:30). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events


Some of our turkeys are all ready up in the hall. The disguises are so great, no one would ever suspect them to be turkeys! Please return your child's finished turkey sometime this week. We love seeing each one ❤🦃.


Tuesday, November 7th is our 50th Day Celebration. The volunteers are ready to help with this exciting milestone in our year. How can it almost be our 50th day already? The next 50 will go even faster!


Tomorrow your child will come home with a Scholastic Book order. This year, they are sending fewer flyers but including more in them. This one has some fun activities throughout it. Please feel no pressure to purchase, this is an economical way to increase your home library with great books to use or not, as you wish.


Our next Guest Reader, Mrs. Morales, will arrive at 3:15 on Wednesday, November 8th. Please bring 2-3 books with you to

read. There are some open dates on the schedule if you would like to sign up. DeLapa Guest Readers


It is Popcorn Friday next week too 😋🍿! Thank you PTO!!!


Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.

Upcoming Events


Our Thanksgiving feast is on Monday, 11/13. Our class will be eating and singing during the 3rd shift. This is for the students only unless you are volunteering. I promise to send a video of our kinders singing. 


Thanksgiving Luncheon Volunteers Needed

Lunch volunteers are needed to help with place settings, serving lunch and cleaning up after the students head out for recess. We could use a few volunteers to help decorate/set up the cafeteria before lunch also. If you are available for the ENTIRE lunch period, please be sure to sign up for all shifts.


We also have a ½ day on Friday, November 17th as we finish our 1st trimester.


Our Thanksgiving break is Wednesday, 11/22 through Friday, 11/24.

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools. I think it is a memory our children will hold on to and enjoy retelling. I hope your child came home full of excitement and was able to tell you all about it.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help. We could not have done it without you.  November homework and Book-It calendars are welcome back for a trip to the treasure chest and Pizza Hut certificate.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again. We just couldn't do fun things like this without the amazing support from all of you! It was fun welcoming Hudson into our class.
