Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                         Last Week

I am so sorry we had to postpone our trip to Bumbleberry Acres!! The children were such good sports about it and we still were able to have a fun Friday together. Sadly, I still do not have a new date for us. Believe me when I say that I have really tried. I hope to be able to give you all a date by tomorrow. They must be extremely busy.


It is always fun seeing so many Brown School families at our Donuts with your Special Person event. It makes me smile to see all the chocolate faces that come through our classroom door in the morning. Thank you for taking the time to attend with your child. It creates sweet memories.

We enjoyed watching Mr. Rommel work in his Bear Cave right outside our classroom on Thursday. We are blessed to have a principal who is a very good sport 🐻.

I hope all have been reading, "With My Family" and working on our first set of sight words often. If they are learned as they are assigned, it is much easier to be confident with all 56 by the end of the year.


Now that the weather is more like fall, please be sure your child has adequate outdoor clothing each day. We go outside

3 times a day and we want all the children to be comfortable. Thank you.


Snack and Leaders


Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the afternoon each day (our lunch time is 11:30). It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week Events


Picture retakes are tomorrow. You must order retakes through the email you were sent last week. I have seen the pictures on

our new lunch cards and they look great to me.


On Friday, October 27th our class will have a Pajama Day! We have reached our goal of 100 Positivity Tickets and that is the

reward we chose to work towards. Your child may bring 1 small stuffed animal as well. These are some of my favorite days!


On Friday expect a fun home activity in your child’s folder. As Thanksgiving approaches we would love to see some creativity in disguising a turkey. Please return by the week of 11/6.


Mr. Rommel will eat the Bug on Friday! 😖 We can't wait to see this!!!


Our next Guest Reader, Mr. Lattak, will arrive at 3:20 on Wednesday, October 18th. Please bring 2-3 books with you to

read. There are some open dates on the schedule if you would like to sign up. DeLapa Guest Readers


Thank you for returning Library books by Tuesday of each week. 


Just a reminder that the students must wear gym shoes each Friday.


Please, please label your child's outdoor clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.

Upcoming Events


Our Fall Festival will be on Tuesday, October 31st. Appropriate costumes may be worn all day. Please be sure your child is able to go to the bathroom without having costume trouble.


On Thursday and Friday, 11/2 and 11/3, will be ½ days for conferences. I will send out a conference sign up

sheet next week. You may choose the date and time that works best for you. I look forward to meeting with

each of you. Just a reminder that we are including students now in our conferences.


Tuesday, November 7th will be our 50th Day Celebration. The committee will be contacted soon. I have all the supplies except the snack items. How can it almost be our 50th day already??


Monday, November 13th will also be our Brown School Thanksgiving luncheon.  This is a great time for us to all eat together and consider all we are thankful for. This is for the students only, but be on the look out for requests for volunteers. Many are needed for this event☺.


We also have a ½ day on Friday, November 17th as we finish our 1st trimester.


Our Thanksgiving break is Wednesday, 11/22 through Friday, 11/24.

We are grateful to Mrs. Francis, a science teacher at Upton Middle School for receiving a grant to purchase a pair of glasses for every student in SJ Schools.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week I hope the Gingerbread houses made it home in good shape (I realize the chances of that are slim 😏). We certainly had a great time making them together. Thank you again to the volunteers who came to help.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                                                             Last Week Last week flew by! Ice skating was a blast from what I hear. I was so sorry to miss this great event. Mrs. Gideon took some good pictures and really enjoyed the day with your wonderful children. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who came to help get skates on and tied, help with skating and then getting them off again.
